Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use a Tour Operator?

Even in the age of online booking, tour operators are a great source of information, destination-knowledge and ideas. A tour operator can make sure that your trip is tailored to you, assist you in case of unprecedented issues, and help you anticipate potential bottlenecks in advance.

Tour Operators are specialists and the information and concepts they share are all tried and tested, they can take the planning burden off your shoulders as they intimately understand their products and features and recommend what would be the best fit for their clients.

Will I pay more if I book through an agent?

In many cases, you save more when you work through a travel planner or tour operator - these specialists save you hours of time you may otherwise use to browse looking at options or deals. Travel planners work within your spend limit and many a times offer great value-adds. They always focus on making sure that you get a solid value in return for your spend. We highly recommending taking the time to speak with a travel planner to assist you in planning your dream holiday.

Why does a safari holiday cost so much compared to other destinations?

There are many elements that make up a safari holiday quote; for example, Park Fees for guests, guide and vehicle; concession/conservation fees; vehicle wear & tear, insurance, fuel costs; accommodation costs and on these the applicable government taxes and levies.

In addition, the cost of accommodation in the parks are relatively on the higher side compared to out of park accommodations, attributed mainly due to fees and taxes on the number of tents; cost of operation, which is significantly high due to the remote location, staff cost, storage, fuel cost, meal cost and long distances from the nearest human settlements, which make the operations costs go up extensively.

All the above combined adds up on the costs hence making it more costlier than compared to let's say a beach holiday in Zanzibar.

Why can't I join a group?

We specialise in curating bespoke experiences for you - this is our key ingredient and substance. All our specialists are aligned to this understanding as no two itineraries are created the same! Moreover, it is difficult for us to manage experiences when you are joining a group as everyone has diverse expectations and not easy for us to deliver on their needs, therefore, we keep everything bespoke and tailored to serve our guests in a more special way.

Green Season vs Peak Season?

Travelling during the green season for starters, has basically very little impact on the experiences, on the contrary, we believe it enhances the experiences, because:

  • The parks will be less crowded hence better viewing experiences and service
  • Cost of the safari reduces quite a bit, so it's affordable compared to peak season.
  • Mostly, the green season in East Africa is also during the rainy season (note it's not as bad as other places when it rains, so it hardly mars the safari experience), so the grass is greener and making it a photographer's dream as it brightens the photos.
